If you need to, change the HomeGroup password on the computer you are trying to connect to the HomeGroup. The basics have definately been checked. I am wondering how many people that have the problem of their computers not seeing one another have a desktop directly connected to their router and a laptop that connects wirelessly. These programs can block the connections and prevent you from connecting to a HomeGroup. You can find the HomeGroup password by going to Control Panel and opening HomeGroup. There are also some network card protocols that need to be installed as well. This should be checked on both the computers.
You need to fix this if they are not. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Glad you got some of it working but in reverse. Make sure the value is set to 0. Last week I worked with a few folk on the email issues and in 10 cases it was some entry in the email app settings. I must have somehow disabled it. In the two boxes just below this text box were two boxes titled Password and Confirm password each of these boxes contained 14 dots. Maybe the time has come to change email so you don't have to set server names, port numbers and more? I already started the 3 peer to peer services. That is the only response I get. Let it sit for a few minutes - went to Homegroup and I was given a prompt button to create a Homegroup rather than just to Join one. I do not need any more security than keeping intruders off of my network.
